Had some fun at the seaside which involved some battle of the sexes:
Round 1: Conne vs. Fabby
Round 2: Guillaume vs. Asphalt
Round 3: Emma vs. Hand
Round 4: Conne vs. Paper
Round 5: Dorien vs. Paper
And there you have it folks, after 5 rounds, Dorien is the winner!

Spotify is still a great app but can cause some troubles when trying to get an account or avoiding the country limitations. If it’s all a bit too much to handle, there’s a very interesting alternative to enjoy your favorite music: Aupeo
You can choose a station based on genre or you can select your favorite artist to find related music. To top it all off there’s even a mood selector, that allow the user to choose from agressive, melancholic to happy or fun music.
Select and press the orange music notes (top or bottom right) when you’re done and you’ll immediately get a fresh stream of music, enjoy!

Download and install spotify
Why? Because it’s the most awesome music player, and the last one you’ll be using if all goes well.
Why is it better? It’s like having the complete itunes library at your fingertips, to enjoy free and immediately.
What’s the catch? No catch, occasional but very limited advertisements until now. 1 problem, only available in certain countries. Read on to get it working wherever you are!
review: http://lifehacker.com/5330148/spotify-is-the-best-desktop-music-player-weve-ever-used
Convinced but can’t use it in your country (yet)?
No worries, first download and install the program:
http://www.spotify.com/en/download/
Then you’ll have to register, you’ll need a UK postal code, get it from here:
http://www.postcodesearch.org.uk
Then head to a UK proxy site:
http://www.defilter.co.uk (seems to be banned somehow by spotify now)
or http://slyskip.com/
update: Both defilter and slyskip seem banned – try using this proxy now, hurry before it gets banned aswell!
goproxing.com
And type in the spotify address in there, and visit the site: http://www.spotify.com
Now you’ll be able to register for a free account, which you can then use to login to the Spotify music player you installed earlier!
Now go and enjoy!
update: everything should still work fine, but if you’re listening outside of the UK/France/etc you’ll get a popup message, stating that it’s ok to “travel” with Spotify but that they noticed you’re not in the UK (postal code you gave in earlier if you followed this tutorial) – and you can use spotify for 14 days while “travelling”. The fix: in preferences add a UK proxy from this site: http://www.xroxy.com/proxy-country-GB.htm
Copy paste the IP address as the proxy host, preferably one with port 80 or 8080 that should be a https one, try several until you find one that works, the first one did the trick for me!
update: enjoy and share playlists with other spotify users: http://sharemyplaylists.com/

Just discovered this site:
http://listen.grooveshark.com/
Looks like a combination of Pandora, Last.fm, Finetune, Jango, Songza…check it out! I’m definitely liking it so far, be sure to check out the Auto Play function which plays songs according to your taste.

How and where did you watch Obama’s inauguration?
See how people watched it around the world from Washington D.C. to Iraq, Afghanistan to Africa and much more different views.
http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/01/the_inauguration_of_president.html
And if you really can’t get enough of the obamarama, buy the crazy wicked Obama action figure! With awesome extra’s such as samurai swords, machine guns and the obligatory woosh-woosh lightsaber.

Quite an interesting destination on the web is Popurls, it bundles some of the most popular websites of the moment on a single page.
Since today they also added a custom feed, allowing users to display their favorite and/or most interesting discoveries. And it looks a little something like this:

I have been mentioning some workarounds and alternatives to one of my favorite music resources in a few earlier posts here, but now it’s really simple & straightforward to enjoy Pandora again!
If you’re not in the US and were denied access to pandora.com you can simply head over to globalpandora.com and continue to enjoy it’s musical voyages.
UPDATE: And it’s gone again…so it’s back to finetune.com or i’d recommend that you give jango.com a try!

Yes, it’s that time of year again! People getting together to celebrate the passing of the old and beginning of the new.
Not much new to be seen here actually, people getting together, people eating together and getting down and dirty after that caused by a slight intoxication. Just the usual New Year’s bash slideshow and gallery!

On my quest for filling up the silent moments at the workplace i have stumbled upon following musical treasurechests:
Songbird is a standalone application for osx similar to itunes but the integration with web-based music content delivery sites is amazing. I’ve just been playing around with the integrated SkreemR search, which creates a playlist from any artist you can think of.
And then there is Songza, a kind of musical google, great for finding a track you want to hear.
Take them both for a test-drive!
